If they successfully lay siege to a foreign town, they claim its hoard of loot (depending on how good the economy is) and can deliver it back to your kingdom. Viking rulers can raise an army and set it as a “looting” army, which can attack any foreign city without declaring a formal war. Of course Vikings have to be able to raid- that’s half the fun! I quite like the new raiding mechanic. The Vikings embed further into England, conducting raids on the nearby French coastīy Tyr! The new Viking specific events continue the game’s run of being entertaining A skilled schemer in her own right, Jorunn is appointed spymaster, and assigned to steal technology secrets in far off Constantinople Quickly building an alliance, Halfdan marries Jorunn, the daughter of the chieftain of the Isle of Man. Over time the technology within an area will spread into neighbouring provinces, which can give you stronger growth rates, and you can send your spymaster to other countries to boost your point accumulation rates as always. It’s a much better system as it gives you some more direction as to how your civilisation evolves. The new system lets you accumulate “Tech points” in three different streams (Cultural, Military, and Economy) and spend them where you want to. The tech system in Crusader Kings has always been a little weird- you’d pick a technology to research, and over time it’d just get better, with no real direction. The overhauled tech system is far superior to the previous oneįirst off, the Tech system.
